What kind of neighborhood Bushwick NY is?

What is it like living in Bushwick? Bushwick does not have strict borders like the rest of the areas in New York. Conditionally, it is situated in the borders of Brooklyn Community District 4 with the lines of Flushing Avenue, Broadway, the Queens border, and the Evergreen Cemetery. Those lines are defined in the documentation, and Bushwick there is called the «community district», but not «neighborhood». Nonetheless, we call all those regions’ neighborhoods for better comprehension.

Bushwick is considered to be one of those «hipster» regions, where modern art meets the urbanistic view of New York City. This is a place where new poets and other artists are trying to start new careers. If we talk about demographics, then almost half the population of Bushwick is Hispanic, so be prepared to meet a new culture and learn some mixed Spanish language.

Here you can get inspired by the merge of the cultures by attending music and art stores and eating Ethiopian cuisine or grabbing a takeaway from mom-and-pop pizza.

The pros of Bushwick apartments:

  • Bushwick rental apartments may be rather affordable, compared to other neighborhoods of NY (later we will tell you about the numbers in detail);
  • plenty of transportation, bike roads, and parks to enjoy walking;
  • wherever you live in Bushwick, your apartment is always close to any kind of facilities: hospitals, schools, stores, groceries, and public transportation;
  • friendly residents (in most cases) near your apartment;
  • highly developed infrastructure;
  • access to a wide variety of different amenities needed to live in a big, modern city.

The cons:

  • The criminal activity rate is a bit higher than in some other regions of New York. Just consider taking some basic safety precautions like securing the apartment if you live on the first floor.
  • Not the best place for shopping — unfortunately, there are only a few good thrift stores that you can find there.
  • The neighborhood aesthetic will look convenient for admirers of industrial-architectured apartments only.
  • Some residents say that the cleanliness of the streets needs to be improved.

If the cons are too much you should consider choosing another area. For example — Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. As local residents say, «Williamsburg is great for walking, eating and hanging out. A nice place to live indeed». Some people even call this neighborhood iconic. You may find lots of parks,cafes and restaurants here. Violent crimes are quite rare here so you’ll feel rather safe. Williamsburg is also a «neighbor» for Bushwick. So it won’t be a problem to live in Williamsburg and work in Bushwick or vice versa.

This place is perfect both for the millennials and elderly people, both categories can find something beautiful in close facilities and modernist views of the apartments. But let’s be more particular about things to see as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the neighborhood.

Places to see in Bushwick

There are a lot of different attractions near your Bushwick apartment which will be suitable both for rest after work or for tourism. Here you can find:

  • Local art — the Bushwick collective paints murals and other street art as well as promotes its performances from time to time. Whether you are an artist or an art admirer you can always find the signature of a Bushwick art collective at almost every corner of the neighborhood.
  • Parks — Bushwick playground welcomes any visitor to see the basketball games. Maria Hernandez Park is the biggest family-friendly green space in Bushwick. There is also a space for pups, so feel comfortable bringing your pet here too.
  • Libraries — two public libraries are available in Bushwick: the Brooklyn Public Library and the DeKalb Branch. Both of them contain books from poetry from the 19th century to modern authors. Those libraries also hold some social gatherings like GED classes or Kid’s Night.

Did you know that Bushiwck has a «brother»? His name is Bed Stuy. This neighborhood is located next to Bushwick and can give you all the same «vibes», because they are very much alike. Except the fact that Bed Stuy is safer and has more green areas. So you might like living in Bed Stuy if Bushwick doesn’t suit you.

But how are you going to get to the places? There are several options for communication available.

Bushwick transportation

There are several subway lines as well as plenty of bus stops in almost every district of the neighborhood. They are always close to your Bushwick apartment. You can take the subway choosing the most convenient option:

  1. The BMT Jamaica Line.
  2. The BMT Canarsie Line.
  3. The BMT Myrtle Line.

There is also exploring the streets of Bushwick on foot. A lot of tourists and residents like to take long walks enjoying the post-futuristic vibe of the city. But this is also the reason why a lot of residents complain about constant noise and chartering on the streets.

The Outpost Club rental apartments

As you may see, there are some issues to encounter while looking for rooms for rent in Bushwick. How can you be sure that the landlord does not offer you the worst deal possible and that you will end up overpaying for an apartment of inconvenient quality? How can you be sure about your and your belongings safety? What kind of neighborhoods will surround you? The Outpost Club fixes all those issues at once. By choosing our services you will receive:

  • 100% safety — due to their Nest system no one will break into your apartment or cause any harm to you. The room will be your fortress.
  • Fashionable design of the interior and fully furnished apartments with all needed utilities are included — you won’t have to carry the whole apartment, you will be completely fine by just taking the ID and some money at first. All utilities such as kitchen and bathroom supplies are already included in the price list.
  • All your tenants will be checked before moving here — there will be no suspicious people walking around.

And all this for the much lower price for Bushwick apartments. But what is our secret? Coliving, or shared housing.

Coliving is a shared living apartments. A way where people live in big apartments together sharing common rooms with each other. It can be a living room or a bathroom, depending on the type of apartment chosen. You can keep your bedroom to yourself or share it with people too, it depends on your will. The most important part is that many people choose this type of living because they are simply afraid to be left alone in an unknown city.

Here you can talk to your new neighbors about where to find the best grocery store or how to get quickly to the needed destination. You can come back to the apartment without feeling lonely. You can also make some friends and check out some bars or restaurants that do not exist in the top ten places to see a list.

It can make your life much easier while trying to live in a coliving community apartment. Thus, there is no restriction on how long you are willing to stay here: for a couple of days or a whole month. Compared to the traditional rented apartment where the landlord offers you the deal to pay rent for a whole month or two ahead with possibly no refund.

If you changed your mind and this region in NY seemed not appropriate for you, check out other regions on our website. Their apartments are also available in different cities or countries, if you feel that the endlessly buzzing skyscraper city is a bit too loud for you.

Stayed at the Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY house for 2 months this summer. Great experience - this house has killer amenities [rooftop, free laundry, movie theater and downstairs work area that no one ever uses and is great for remote work].
